The steel industry can save 420 million cubic meters of water annually
China is a major producer and consumer of China hollow section tube. The whole process of steel production is almost inseparable from water, and the processes of ore processing, sintering, pelletizing, coking, iron making, steel making and steel rolling consume a large amount of water.According to statistics, the steel industry uses about 4.2 billion cubic meters of water annually, accounting for about 3 percent of the country’s total industrial water use. Recently, the ministry of water resources released the “industrial water quota: steel”, in order to promote extensive use of iron and steel joint enterprises to carry out water-saving technology transformation, improve water efficiency, reduce waste sewage discharge.
At present, the quota has been unable to achieve the purpose of promoting the iron and steel industry to save water; there is water technology division, which is not fine, quota problem such as relatively loose. To this end, the national water conservation office organized the compilation of industrial water quota: iron and steel, which delimited the restricted boundary for the water use of steel pipe suppliers. According to the calculation of relevant industry associations, after the strict implementation of water quota for iron and steel industry, the annual water saving amount can reach 420 million cubic meters. According to the estimation of 139 liters per day of domestic water consumption per capita for urban households in 2018, the water saving amount of 420 million cubic meters is about the same as the annual domestic water consumption of a city with a population of 8 million. If calculated by discharging 0.7 cubic meters of waste water for every 1 cubic meter of water used, the annual amount of waste water emission reduction of structural steel pipe can reach 290 million cubic meters.
Quota set both can consider integrated iron and steel enterprises more than common use of waste heat power generation. In addition, the ministry of water resources this release of steel water quota index is more strict. Industrial water quota: iron and steel stipulates that the amount of water required for the production of 1 ton of square steel pipe by existing steel joint enterprises excluding coking and cold rolling production shall not exceed 3.6 cubic meters, and the amount of water required by newly-built enterprises shall not exceed 2.3 cubic meters, which is obviously strict with the quota standard stipulated in “water intake quota part 2 steel joint enterprises”. We need to Know all the details about that.
