Steel export demand

First, steel direct export goes from fall to rise.
According to the General Administration of Customs statistics, in the first half of this year, the country’s steel exports of 37.38 million tons, converted into rectangular hollow section exports of about 39.35 million tons, a year-on-year growth of 30.2%. Not only completely reversed last year’s decline in exports, but also strong growth.

After entering the third quarter, although the relevant aspects of the inhibitory adjustment of export tariffs, the country’s steel exports continue to flourish, and even the year-on-year growth rate has improved. According to customs statistics, the country’s steel exports in the first August of this year were 43.05 million tons, up 30.9 percent year-on-year. Steel exports rose 35.6% year on year in July and 37.4% year on year in August, well above the average export growth in the first half of the year. Steel exports of China hollow section are expected to remain strong in September. The whole third quarter of the country’s steel exports year-on-year growth of about 30 percent. Because of the support of steel exports with many factors still exist, it is expected that the fourth quarter of the national steel direct exports continue to show a relatively large year-on-year growth trend. It is estimated that the direct export volume of crude steel (translated into steel exports) reached or approached 70 million tons, an increase of more than 15% over the previous year.

Second, the indirect export of mild steel tube is also strong. Indirect steel exports from China, an important part of China’s total steel demand, have also been strong this year. Statistics from the General Administration of Customs show that in the first half of this year, the country’s export of mechanical and electrical products (value) increased by 29.5% year on year, accounting for 59.2% of the total export value, 0.6 percentage points higher than the same period last year. Exports of automatic data processing equipment and its parts and automobiles increased by 17% and 101.4% respectively. In addition, the export volume of construction machinery, containers, auto parts and household appliances also increased significantly.

After entering the third quarter, the country’s steel indirect export of metal pipe is still high operation. According to customs statistics, in the first eight months, China’s export of mechanical and electrical products increased by 23.8 percent, accounting for 58.8 percent of the total export value, significantly higher than the same period last year. Of this amount, automatic data processing equipment and its components reached 1.02 trillion yuan, up 12.7 percent.
