Opportunity and challenge for steel pipe industry

From the perspective of opportunity, low-carbon development of galvanized steel pipe will boost China’s iron and steel industry to build a higher level of dynamic balance between supply and demand, optimize the structure of the process, promote technological revolution, promote intelligent upgrading, accelerate multi-industry collaboration, coordinate to promote environmental protection governance, deepen the concept of the full life cycle of products, and will help the industry low carbon standardization work.

From the point of challenge, our country’s iron and steel industry low carbon transition time is tight, heavy tasks, and must reach the peak and reduce carbon in a short time; Most steel pipe manufacturers are in the primary stage of low-carbon development, and their basic capabilities such as technology and personnel are weak. The development level of different enterprises is uneven, the low carbon development level is different, the carbon reduction space is also different; There is a large gap in the proportion of short process, the overall cost competitiveness of electric furnace steel is weak, and the process structure optimization still faces obstacles. And the coverage of green design products is insufficient.

The implementation of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality in the steel industry is neither urgent nor slow. It should be scientifically planned and carried out in a rational and orderly manner in stages. Corresponding to the national “double carbon” working node, China’s iron and steel industry must experience four stages of carbon emissions peaking, steady decline, large decline and deep decarbonization. Overall analysis, China’s iron and steel industry carbon peak and carbon reduction path can focus on six aspects: promoting green layout; Second, to save energy and improve energy efficiency of square steel pipe; Third, optimize the energy use and process structure; Fourth, build the industrial chain of circular economy; Applying breakthrough low-carbon technologies; Sixth, we will strengthen institutional development and policy support.

In order to ensure the “double carbon” goal, our country’s steel industry should do a good job in the top-level design and try to solve the problem of unbalanced and inadequate development. Specifically, we should broaden the stock potential and accelerate the practice of innovation technology industrialization. Consolidate the policy and technical support system of rectangular hollow section, improve the standard system; Improve the level of technological innovation and research and development, and constantly reduce the cost of emission reduction; Improve the management system and mechanism, and constantly consolidate the professional foundation and capacity construction.
