How to use threaded steel pipes properly in your project

Technically, a threaded pipe is the type of pipe with screw-threaded ends for assembly in practical applications. We can often find most of threaded pipes are round steel pipes, which are used in some plumbing installations for the delivery of gases or liquids under pressure have a tapered thread that is slightly conical (in contrast to the parallel sided cylindrical section commonly found on bolts and leadscrews). As a rule, before threading the pipe, plumbers use a pipe-cutting tool to cut the steel pipe to the desired length. The end of the pipe is then inserted into the pipe threader. Special cutting tools, or dies, within the threader can be used to create the proper thread profile and depth. Manual pipe threaders are operated using a ratcheting motion, while larger units include a motor to automatically cut the threads. The pipe threader must be lubricated with special oil to ensure a smooth cut and to maximize the life of equipment.

In the modern times, threaded steel pipes are commonly used in high pressure pipe lines in industrial systems, and also utilized in plumbing applications. Plumbers, when using pipe threads, apply sealing compounds to the joints for added leak protection. Conduit threads are designed for use in liquid distribution piping systems because of their ability to form a wet seal.
