Carbon neutral action plan

Starting from the earliest coupling of metallurgical coal and chemical industry, it tries to make chemical products from gas generated in metallurgical process to reduce carbon emissions, and becomes the pioneer of low-carbon smelting exploration. The meritorious blast furnace gained green new life, and finally built a green full process zero carbon plant with full hydrogen shaft furnace smelting and extreme short process technology. These cutting-edge technological innovation actions vividly depict China Baowu’s tireless exploration and pursuit in low-carbon smelting.
2. Strengthen the concept of the full life cycle and promote the upgrading of green products
As early as 2003, Baosteel began to pay attention to the life cycle evaluation of steel products like Cold Rolled Round Steel Pipe, and in 2004, it formally approved a project to conduct the life cycle evaluation (LCA) research of electro-galvanizing products, and has been continuously promoting the research work in this field. For example, by carrying out green product design and manufacturing process innovation, we can provide green products with higher strength, longer life and better efficiency. While reducing the use of steel materials, we can replace high carbon materials and support the whole society to achieve low-carbon development. From China Baowu in recent years carried out construction industry scaffolding, highway guardrail, concrete mixing truck and transport muck truck carriage plate, container and other high-strength thinning and lightweight work, downstream carbon reduction effect of round steel pipe is obvious; To the recently developed non-coated photovoltaic support material, achieving 25 years of maintenance-free, zinc saving, and carbon reduction.
3. Diversify green industries and leverage financial resources to promote low-carbon action
China Baowu helps the steel industry to be carbon neutral through green layout. Using resources and regional advantages, layout and development of green energy, the future plan to cooperate with local governments to build green self-owned power plants; Establish the green and low-carbon metallurgy innovation fund to promote the development of green industry with financial leverage; A carbon-neutral fund will be established to support the development of low-carbon metallurgy.
